Hi, I'm Wendy .
I feel very strongly that children deserve quality care in a welcoming and caring environment. I provide activities and play opportunities according to the children's individual needs and personalities. I have lots of personal experience, an ongoing interest in children's welfare and education value each child as a whole person, a member of his/her family, and a member of his/ her community. I believe children learn best when they have the freedom and space to follow their own interests with lots of support and encouragement.
I've been Ofsted registered since July 2008, but also did childminding as a young Mum, when my own girls were little and I fostered my younger sister from age 6. I Home Educated my 2 daughters from age 14 and 8 respectively; the oldest is now doing very well as a manager for a well known restaurant chain and my youngest is torn between becoming a palaeontologist or a lead guitarist! They are lovely girls with very different personalities and though I say it myself I think I've done a pretty good job. My youngest daughter works with me as a part time registered assistant and holds a current EYFS First Aid certificate. I am also in touch with other childminders and welcome the support which their advice and opinions on current practice give me: a lot has changed since my own children were little but I'm open to new ideas and always happy to learn.
I have been studying toward an Open University degree and hope to add to this with a level 4 childcare qualification with the OU: 'E100 The Early Years - Developing Practice' in the near future. My latest inspection outcome was a 'good' overall, which I'm very happy with.
Under the EYFS I have a duty to promote the well being of the children I look after, including the benefits of a healthy lifestyle so we spend lots of time having fun outdoors, which means wellies are essential :-)
I currently drop off and collect from Goddard Park and Holy Family primary schools.
At the moment I have a limited number of part time spaces available: during the day on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and before and after school.
I currently charge £3.75 per hour for childminding which can include meals, snacks and drinks.
I prefer to be paid 4 weekly in advance, but this can also be slightly flexible in some circumstances.
