Vacancies in Rush Green, Romford Essex

Post by kaz1993 on Wed Nov 02, 2011 7:00 pm

Hi, my name is Karen, I have been married to Roy since July 1993 we have a daughter named Georgia born on Valentine’s Day 1997 and two cats Ozzy & Shazzy. We have lived in the Rush Green area since June 2000 and we purposely moved into this house as we felt that it was ideal for childminding, which is something I have wanted to do for many years.

I CURRENTLY HAVE TWO VACANCIES FOR IMMEDIATE START

I have been a registered childminder since February 2001 and attended a pre-registration course. I am also a member of the National Child Minders Association (NCMA) and have public liability insurance.

I am currently registered to care for 6 under 8’s of which no more than 3 can be under 5, and of these no more than 1 child may be under one year.
I have been childminding since February 2001 and regularly attend courses to enhance myself.

I have a large variety of toys and play equipment for age birth to ten years, including books and toys that reflect various cultures and disabilities, arts and crafts, videos and sing along tapes. We all enjoy painting, gluing, sticking, card making, cooking, reading, singing, dancing and playing. During the summer months we enjoy playing outside with water and sand. “Water Fights” are a favourite. We have outings to the park where we play games and have picnics. Fortunately for us the Park is in the next street. During the colder months picnics are held in doors where we still have fun. I am also a member of the local library, so we have visits there and the children chose books of their choice. I attend toddler groups on a weekly basis so that the children can interact with others.

I aim to set a good example whilst children are in my care. I always give praise and encouragement to each child that behaves well and this is always shared with the parent upon collection. I will try to deal with each situation appropriately dependant on the age and level of understanding of each child. I will discuss any concerns I may have with the parents of the child and this will always be done confidentially and with sensitivity.

The children I look after seem to enjoy themselves here and interact with each other very well and I feel that I have a good relationship with the children in my care and also with their parents.

I attended a first aid course in March 2002, for which I was given a certificate valid for 2 years. This has since been renewed as I attend refresher courses every three years, and I always receive an up to date certificate.

I have also attended 3 modules for Business Success for Childcare “Mind Your Business” programme, provided by SureStart for which I have 3 certificates.

In 2005, I attended Barking College, where I achieved a CACHE Level 3 (Pass) Certificate for (ICP) Introducing Childminding Practice.

I completed the (DHC) Level 3 Diploma in Home-based Childcare via the NEC (National Extension College) in July 2009. The course consisted of 4 units and I passed each unit with an A Grade.
I have also attended the Birth to Three Matters and Child Protection Courses and have certificates for both of these courses too.

I am also registered with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) as a data controller.

In May 2007 I attended the food hygiene course and have a Certificate for Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering and I am also registered with the food standards agency.

In November 2007 I attended a four week beginner’s course for Makaton Signing, which I try to use with the younger children to encourage speech and communication.

In January 2008 I attended an Introduction Briefing Session in preparation for the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) which came into force in September 2008 for all childcare providers and this is the framework I must follow to support and plan activities for the children’s learning, development and welfare.

All certificates are displayed on my kitchen notice board along with my registration certificate and insurance,
My hours of work are Monday to Friday, the earliest I start work is 7.30am and the latest I finish is 6.30pm, however I do appreciate that parents can be delayed.

Please feel free to contact me for further information.
