West Wight Childminder

About Myself and My Childcare Background
As you may already know, my name is Vicky and I achieved a GCSE qualification within Childcare which I passed with ease. I got a job as a Nanny looking after two children for approximately three years until they grew up and started school, so my services were no longer required. I moved on to become an administrator for many years, however within that time I have been involved with children through my family and friends. I have also achieved the relevant qualifications to become a childminder which is the Introduction to Childcare Practice (Homebased) (ICP) and the Early Years First Aid Course. I have had my Ofsted inspection which came back as 'Good'.

I decided to operate a childminding business as I have enjoyed my years dealing with children, especially the past 3 years with my daughter Chloe. I found being at work away from her very hard, therefore I felt that I did not want to miss anymore of her years as I worked practically full time so what better than to stay at home with her and enjoy other people’s children too.

My Family
I live with my partner, Jamie, who is a self-employed Carpenter and Joiner by trade but also does other building work. We have been together for over 11 years. Jamie will also be one of my ‘Emergency Backup’ people should any eventualities occur.

Our Family Pets
For those of you who would like your child to grow up with pets, then this is the ideal opportunity as we have two family pets which we love dearly and they are a major part of our family unit.

We have a old lion head rabbit called Gizmo is 8 years old and lives indoors majority of the time (in a cage) and goes outside when the weather is nice. We also have a 7 year old German Shepherd dog called Khan who is fantastic with children as he has grown up with children of mixed ages and abilities since he was 7 weeks old. All his vaccinations, flea treatment and worming are up-to-date (as any dog should be). Khan can be vocal but this is due to excitement and nothing else. You may be aware that German Shepherd dogs have had a bad name in the past along with many other breeds but at the end of the day I believe this is due to how they are treated and brought up from a very young age. Khan has been brought up within a loving environment and to this day has never shown any sign of aggression towards anyone. I can reassure you that the children will be safe around him and that he will never be left unattended with children (as with all dogs should be). If I knew or thought he may pose a problem then I would not have considered childminding.

The Premises
We live in a ground floor flat which is spacious for children to express themselves freely along with a garden which children will have supervised access to.

I have some references from parents who currently use my services which I am more than happy to show you.

If you haven't already signed up, I have a Little Monkeys Childminding Facebook page where you can see regular updates of what we do and a selection of photos of some of the activities we get up to.
