About Me
Hello my name is Hermione, and In January 2011 was graded by Ofsted as ' OUTSTANDING' . I have been childminding for 6 years and I love my job! I offer a fun, loving home environment where the children learn whilst having fun. Both my husband and i have an enhanced CRB.

I live with my husband and four children (ranging from 5 to 16), in a 3 storey, 4 bedroomed house on a private cul de sac in Wotton under Edge opposite Blue Coat School.

We have a lovely safe and secure garden with lots of outdoor toys, netted trampoline and play equipment.

We have a local veg & fruit allotment, and regularly pick our own goodies!

We have two young friendly cats.

We love the outdoors, and go on lots of walks, trips and outings. We regularly visit Slimbridge and Westonbirt. We also visit local parks, childminding and toddler groups, shopping, and softplays.
My Experience

I have 16 years experience of looking after children and babies as a parent, and 6 years working as a childminder.

Ive cared for many children over the past few years from as young as 8 months to after school care.

Before changing careers to become a childminder, I worked with the elderly for over 20 years. Immediately before the career change, my husband and I had our own privately run residential home in Somerset looking after 16 residents.

My Qualifications

I have the following child-related qualifications:

Paediatric First Aid Course - valid until March 2013
Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene - Level 2 - valid until Sept 2012
Child Protection and Safeguarding Children - valid until Dec 2012
ASET Level 2 Certificate in Control of Infection & Contamination
CACHE Certificate in Pre School Practice (including voluntary work at Blue Coat Pre-school)
CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Home Based Childcare (all 5 modules)
NEC Certificate in Continuing Professional Development - Level 3
Exploring Equality & Diversity
CACHE Certificate - Working with Children with Special Needs
Diploma in Child Day Care
Diploma in Child Psychology
Level 3 NVQ Children's Care, Learning & Development

Environmental Health Food Premises Inspection January 2011 - full five star grading awarded.

I have also just been inspected by Ofsted in January 2011 and have been awarded 'Outstanding'. The highest possible grading available. Here are just a few quotes taken from my recent report:

My Availability


I do work all year round, but prefer school term only contracts, and do not charge a retainer for school holidays.

My hours are 7.30am - 6.pm, but again i am flexible to fit in with your requirments.

I am happy to do pre-school and school runs to Blue Coat School.

My Fees

My fees are £4.00 per hour (minimum charge of 6 hrs per day), this includes toddler groups, snacks and drinks throughout the day.

Breakfast (8.00am), Lunch (12.30pm) and Evening Meals (4.30pm) are availably at £1.25 per meal

PAST/PRESENT REFERENCES (2005 - 2011)

L thoroughly enjoys his time at Hermiones. He is always eager to tell me about the different activities they do, one of his favourites is baking cakes. He loves to bring them home for mummy to try. I have been extremely pleased with the work Hermione has done with L since he started in September 2010. (ongoing contract)

My little boy, C has been with Hermione since September 2010. Hermione came highly recommended to me by many people. I have been really happy with the level of care so far. C was not shy when he started and settled in really quickly. Hermione has a very calm and caring approach which helped. Hermione does an amazing array of activities with C. He is learning a lot about different cultures and themes. They recently celebrated Chinese New Year. Hermione is very pro-active about taking the children out regularly. C goes swimming, playgroups and shopping often. He also loves going to slimbridge to feed the birds and Westonbirt. There are lots of art and craft and cooking activities too. The things C has made at Christmas were just gorgeous.

C enjoys the family atmosphere at Hermiones. He loves the children and is always reluctant to leave at the end of the day

Hermione has a lovely home and family. I am so happy to leave my son and know he is being so well looked after. (6 month contract)

She provides a structured and fun environment and L loves the different things they make each week, and as a result I have asked Hermione to have L for a few extra sessions each week. My daughter M has been coming to Hermiones for the past few years on a part time basis. M loves just about everything they do at Hermiones. All the trips, cooking, arts and crafts. She has settled in well with Hermione and enjoys the company of all the other children. As a result of the excellent care that Hermione has given to M, i have now asked Hermione to look after my younger son whilst im at college. My daughter is 10 and still comes to Hermiones for after school care during term time. (on going contract since 2005).
